During the seminar, there will be a unique opportunity to visit lectures, workshops, exhibitions, and discussions on the topical issues of conservation and new technologies in document restoration as well as to meet international and Russian experts in the field of document preservation.

The Excursion department of the Russian State Library has prepared a special gift for the readers — a virtual tour of the RSL. When you cannot come to the library, the library will come to you!

The RSL is gradually resuming regular services for readers and visitors, which were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before visiting the library, please be sure to go through the Provisional guidelines for using the RSL during the period of restrictions.

In compliance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation N 239 (dated 2 April, 2020) «On measures to ensure sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the Russian population amidst the novel coronavirus infection outbreak», the Russian State Library will provide reader services online until 30 April.

Consul General of Italy in Moscow Francesco Forte under the patronage of the Italian Ambassador to Russia Pasquale Terracciano launched an open cultural and educational project ?Dante. Secret Worlds? at the Russian State Library. The second meeting took place on 28 November at the RSL Conference Hall.

The exhibition Insects for fun and for real was devoted to the traditions and symbolism of insects in Japanese and Chinese ink paintings and prepared by the Artistic Union of Japanese Sumi-e Artists. The artwork was highlighted by the displays of unique publications from the collections of the Centre of Oriental Literature of the RSL.

On 8–17 October, the Centre of Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library displayed books and illustrations from the Centre’s collection as part of the exhibition The History of Chinese Writing in the Far East, which traced the development of Chinese characters.

On July 14, 2017 the first Russian regional self-organized meeting within IFLA’s “Global Vision” project was held to discuss how libraries can tackle the challenges of the future, opportunities and risks.

On April, 19 the Russian State Library welcomed Ms. Donna Scheeder, current IFLA President, who had arrived to Russia with a professional visit, organized at the initiative of the Margarita Rudomino All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature. The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) comprises libraries, national library organizations, and information services.

As part of the long-awaited exhibition, Moscow rabbi Yaakov Mazeh and his book collection, the RSL Centre of Oriental Literature presented over eighty books and periodicals from the Mazeh collection, as well as books by Yaakov Mazeh from the RSL collections.
